- At
the bottom of this page, choose the membership type that best reflects
your profession and your participation in RELIGION | NEWSWRITERS. All site users must choose one of these categories.
Active membership
is open to the individuals as described below. For active members, the
term "media" refers to all newspapers, magazines, newsletters, radio
stations, television stations, online news sites, nonprofit news sites,
blogs, books, mobile media or other media outlets that are not owned or
operated by religious or public relations groups. In addition, Active
members must work for media that are available to the general public
either free or for purchase. These individuals are eligible for Active
Membership:
- Journalists, news directors, producers, editors and others in the media whose work includes news about religion
- Self-employed
journalists or authors whose work appears primarily in the media as
described above and whose work includes news about religion
- Scholars interested in religion and the media
- Students interested in religion and the media
- Book authors interested in writing about religion
- Cost: $50/year to journalists & educators; $25/year for students
Associate membership is open to these individuals:
- Individuals who lobby about religion or religious issues
- Public relations professionals, including those who work for the press arms or official news services of religious institutions
- People for whom journalism is a secondary occupation
- Journalists who work on behalf of a university
- Officials at journalism organizations
- Part-time faculty at universities
- General public
- Cost: $100 year for PR professionals & the general public; $25/year for retirees
Advertisers & Sponsors:
- Individuals
whose primary relationship with RELIGION | NEWSWRITERS is through
advertising (conference or otherwise) or sponsorships at our annual
conference.
- Cost: This is a site user category, not a membership. The cost is free.
ReligionLink Subscribers:
- Subscribers to ReligionLink, our story idea e-newsletter on religion & public life issues
- Anyone
individual who does not fit into one of the categories above (either
advertiser/sponsor, associate member or journalist/academic members)
MUST choose ReligionLink subscriber to be a registered user of this
site.
- Cost: This is a site user category, not a membership. The cost is free.
Additional information regarding RNA memberships:
- Memberships are given to individuals, not corporations.
- Memberships are non-transferable.
- Dues are valid January–December and can be pro-rated for those joining after July 1 (e-mail RNA to get the promotion code for pro-rated dues).
- Renewal information is distributed annually in October. Dues expire Dec. 31.
International active members
Please contact
RELIGION | NEWSWRITERS for a promotional code to receive your 2010 dues
for free! (Offer gives free membership through Dec. 31, 2010. Does not
apply to 2011 dues. Good for individuals applying for the active member
category only from any country outside the United States.)
