Silent auction, raffle, donations bring in $4,900 Attendees of the 2009 RNA Annual Conference gave nearly $5,000 toward RELIGION | NEWSWRITERS' scholarship fund through silent auction purchases, raffle ticket sales and individual contributions.
The proceeds, which will be used to support scholarships for reporters to attend RNA's Annual Conference, were raised Sept. 10–12 at RNA's Annual Conference in Minneapolis. Competitive bidding during Saturday's silent auction brought in more than $3,700; raffle sales for the prize of two nights' stay at the 2010 conference hotel and a free registration tallied $590; and $590 came from general donations.
More than 170 journalists, scholars, public relations professionals and guests participated in this year's conference, the 60th in RNA's history.
