A Letter from Bob Smietana, RNA President & Board Member

Millard Fuller, the founder of Habitat for Humanity, had a simple philosophy about raising money for nonprofits.

“We tried asking for money, and we tried not asking for money,” he liked to say. “We always got more when we asked for money.”

Fuller knew that to be successful, nonprofits need more than a great mission. They also need money to carry out that mission.

For nearly seven decades, the Religion Newswriters Association has promoted excellence in religion reporting by training journalists to cover matters of belief—as well as disbelief—with “civility, accuracy, fairness, and insight.”

Through our resources on the religion beat, as well as our conference and social events, we hope to promote a civil and informed conversation about religion in the public square.

We get religion. We know that religion matters. And we know that how vital it is that journalists see how religion helps shape both public policy and the day-to-day lives of million of people.

That’s our mission.

To carry it out, we need your support. So we’re taking Millard Fuller’s advice and asking for your help.

This holiday season, please consider making a donation to the Religion Newswriters Foundation, the charitable arm of RNA.

No gift is too small—or too big. All are appreciated, and all will be used to promote the ongoing work of RNA.

We’ve made the process simple. Click the "Donate Now" button below. If you are a member, be sure to log in to your account first.

From there, it’s just point, click, and give.

On behalf of the RNA board, I want to thank you for your continued support of this great organization, and wish you a fabulous holiday season.

And as my daughter likes to say, “Don’t forget to be awesome.”
