This award is made possible by the generosity of Russell and ML Chandler.

  • Submit up to three religion stories/clips published or broadcast in the 2018–19 academic year (summer–spring) via official campus media outlets, including newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations, or in general circulation professional news outlets during a student internship. One entry = a body of work, up to a maximum of three stories.
  • Stories could appear in print, on air or online.
  • Stories published on class blogs or project pages will not be eligible.
  • Photos that appear with stories will not be judged, but they need not be removed from an entry.
  • Stories with a double byline are permitted. Winning entries will share the award among all those credited in the byline.
  • Each student can submit two entries (up to three stories per entry). Each outlet can submit an unlimited number of entries by different students.
  • RNA reserves the right to limit the presentation of awards for insufficient entry numbers.

  • There is NO entry fee for this award category.
  • Deadline: Enter online by May 3, 2019. Extended to May 10, 2019

Any full-time or part-time students who have never have been employed as reporters or similar positions — nor contractors paid as regular contributor/correspondent — at general circulation media outlets are eligible. Internships do not affect eligibility. RNA membership is not required for entry. RNA's president and vice presidents are not eligible to enter individual contests (does not apply to RNA student chapter officers).
